Tips on Hiring a CLOWN For Your Child's Party

  • Mood:
When booking a performer for your child's party, making sure you get your money’s worth is a priority.... but remember, cheaper does not mean better! You will find entertainers that range in price anywhere from $80 to $300 for an hour. That’s a big price difference. Usually, it is fair to assume that the more expensive the performer, the more experienced they are. I have been in this business a long time and find this is to be the general consensus. The more experienced the magicians/performers, the more they will charge, and should, because they are in high demand and highly skilled at entertaining children.

However, some performers charge high prices just because it is "the going rate."  How do you know the difference? How do you decide?  Before booking your event, don't be afraid to ask the entertainer for references. He/She should be happy and willing to share those with you. Ask them how long they have been performing, and what professional training/education they have had. (Yes, there are clown schools, organizations, etc. that provide a plethora of education.)

Talking with the entertainer on the telephone, attitude matters. If the entertainer is abrupt, rude or impolite to you, you can probably count on them to have that same demeaner at your event. Birthday parties are made of memories and those memories need to be special so always go with a seasoned, trained performer that is within your budget.
